About Eco Printing
1. What is Eco-Printing?

A truly eco-friendly printing service goes beyond choosing recycled paper and using vegetable-based inks. It publicly demonstrates a company’s commitment towards sustainable solutions and pushes sustainability in all its day-to-day operations. The idea of eco-printing involves changing not only the type of materials used, but also the management system and press machines.

2. What is ISO 14001?

Companies recognized with the ISO 14001 certification are deemed to have met the international standards and requirements for an effective Environmental Management System (EMS).

3. What is vegetable-based ink?

The base for this ink is made from various vegetable oils such as corn, walnut, coconut, linseed, canola and soy bean. Vegetable-based ink takes longer to dry but, releases only around 2-4% VOCs into the atmosphere. Vegetable-based ink is also much easier to de-ink when recycling.

4. What is Soy Ink?

Soy ink is one type of vegetable-based ink which is low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

5. What is CtP?

The Computer to Plate (CtP) technology replaces film processors in the pre-press platemaking process by eliminating the use of plastic film and hydrocarbon solvents.

6. Is Eco-Printing more expensive?

Not really, if you print with Nets Group of Companies. The additional cost that you pay stems from th choice of recycled paper chosen for your printed product.

7. How do I differentiate an eco printer and a conventional printer?

One can identify an eco printer based on the following:

• a) Their environmental management system is certified by a third party with certificates like the ISO 14001 or EMAS.
• b) Their printing machines are new, energy-efficient and use vegetable-based inks. Modern presses are up to 60% more energy-efficient than older presses.
• c) They actively work to reduce their environmental impact by reducing paper wastage, and encouraging the use of certified recycled paper of international standards.

About Eco Paper
1. Why is recycled paper more expensive?

The making process which uses a phosphate free detergent to de-ink recycled stock (if de-inking is required), and oxygen bleaching (if bleaching is required) in totally chlorine-free paper to produce equivalent brightness and smoothness of virgin paper, and the transportation involved to collect the paper for recycling purposes amounts to the cost of recycled paper being a little dearer.

2. How can we tell that a paper is environmental friendly?

There are some internationally recognized schemes that guarantee the paper is made from trees grown in sustainable and environmentally-managed forests such as Forest Stewardship Council (FSC^TM) or PEFC. One can differentiate by checking the logo printed at the back of each printed material.

3. What is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC^TM)?

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC^TM). is an internationally recognized certification awarded to green printers, which ensures that the paper product made or paper used is strictly from an Forest Stewardship Council (FSC^TM) certified forest or well managed sustainable forest.

4. How can we use the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC^TM) logo on our printed material?

The use of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC^TM) logo must be arranged with an FSC-certified printer when using FSC-certified paper purchased through an FSC-certified merchant.

5. Is there paper made from tree-free source?

Yes, stone paper (rock paper) which is made from natural chalk (calcium carbonate).

6. What is PEFC?

The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) is also an international non-profit organization dedicated to promote sustainable forest management.
